Pouring, Fabrication & Assembly

Pouring, Fabrication, & Assembly
Once the molds are produced by Synappsys Digital Services Company, the foundry begins the process of pouring. After the pouring is complete, the fabrication and assembly process begins:
  • The bronze alloy is heated until it is liquefied and poured into the molds where it remains until cooled.

  • Once cooled, the molds are broken away from the now hardened bronze alloy panels.

  • Approximately 3,600 panels will be poured to make up the outer skin of The American monument.

  • The outer skin will weigh over 350,000 pounds.

  • The individual panels will then be welded together in sections of 16 to 20 panels.

  • The welded seams on each section will be sanded and finished.

  • Then the sections will be attached to a steel substructure.

  • The sections will then be delivered to the site of The American and mounted to the infrastructure of the Monument.
